Pool System: FITT B-Active Rigid

FITT B-Active Rigid is the PVC-A pipe manufactured with Shock Wave technology  featuring a 3-layer construction that guarantees shock resistance, in full compliance with the test requirements of the EN ISO 1452 standard. Resistant to handling shocks and adaptable to movements in the soil, FITT B-Active Rigid makes the pool safe and protected from damage during construction and subsequent use.

What does it do?

FITT B-Active increases safety, operation and durability of in-ground swimming pool systems because designed and built to be:

Shock-wave-technology

SHOCK WAVE TECHNOLOGY
The Shock Wave technology, result of the combination of the properties of PVC-A in the 3-layer structure, ensures that the pipe is strong and durable. The “3L Structure” consists of a first shock resistant outer layer, an intermediate layer that prevents crack propagation, and a last innermost chlorine-resistant layer, in contact with the water.

PVC-A

PVC- A
Innovative polymer alloy that ensures strength and ductility, preventing crack propagation, the main cause of breaks in water systems, which lead to water leaks.

Cold-resistant

COLD RESISTANT
The ductility of the pipe makes it resistant to shock even at low temperatures (down to -10 °C), and safeguards from transport and handling damage at the site. External shocks will not impair performance even when the pipe is pressurized.

TECHNOLOGIES

Shock resistance

The low temperature impact resistance of FITT B-Active Rigid was compared with that of other EN ISO 1452 PVC-U pipes in accordance with the provisions of the EN ISO 11173 standard.

After conditioning at 0 °C, both pipes with diameter 63 PN16 were subjected to the fall of a mass weighting 8.5 kg from a height of 2.4 metres, corresponding to a 200 Joule energy.

While the standard PVC-U rigid pipes did not pass the test and were crushed by the impact, the FITT B-Active Rigid sample passed the test without issues. It also passed a further test at a limit condition equal to -10 °C, withstanding an energy of over 140 Joules.

Thanks to the polymer alloy that ensures ductility even at low temperatures, FITT B-Active Rigid is capable of absorbing the impact of external shocks without any negative effects on performance. This makes it 10 times more resistant than a standard PVC-U pipe, and 30 times more resistant than the requirements of the EN ISO 1452 standard (EN ISO 3127 method).

INTERNAL PRESSURE 1167

Following the positive results in the shock test, the same FITT B-Active Rigid sample was subjected to a further test called for by the EN ISO 1167 standard: the internal permanent pressure test.

The test showed that even after strong impact at low temperature, if inadvertently used, FITT B-Active Rigid can in any case still guarantee appropriate performance, ensuring standard performance levels for more than one hour at a pressure of 40 bar.

This means that shocks during handling and installation will not jeopardise the long term performance of the pipe.
